A shocking case of betrayal and blackmail has come to light from Narendrapur in Kolkata, where a woman was allegedly duped, harassed, and blackmailed by a man she met on social media. The accused, identified as Parth Das, a photographer from the Haltu area, was arrested by the Narendrapur police on charges of cheating, threatening, and blackmailing the woman with her private photos.
According to police sources, the woman, a resident of the Narendrapur police station area, met Parth through a social media platform. The two grew close and began living together in a rented apartment. However, Parth reportedly never stayed overnight and soon started demanding money, eventually taking Rs 2 lakh from the woman.
The woman has alleged that Parth promised to marry her, but later started clicking intimate photographs of their private moments without consent. He then used these to threaten her, saying he would leak them online. Shockingly, he even sent some of the pictures to her ex-husband, police said.
After the woman lodged a formal complaint, the police acted swiftly and arrested the accused. A mobile phone and a laptop were seized from Parth and have been sent for forensic examination to retrieve any digital evidence.
The police are now investigating the full extent of the blackmail and whether the photos were shared with others or uploaded online.
